Thread: Winch recommendations

If you don't mind a bit of fluffing around setting it up, a normal ATV winch can be set up on a portable mounting plate with two slings on the back to hook to the machine. Then a fairly robust anderson type plug or means to get power and away you go. The benefit is you can winch from both ends - so you don't end up in the situation of having to pull further into the shite to get yourself out.

I've been meaning to set one up for my ute as the last one I built with a mate - bloody good setup the only thing in bigger rated winches is that you need to go narrow drum and they are a little more pricey and not so common.
