    Wireing a spotlight?

Hey guys and gals,I have a million power spotlight that gave me know problems when it was plugged into the Honda 300 quad.
Now we have a suzuki king quad and the spotlight connection is a cigarette lighter. It kept blowing the fuse in the switch that was plugged into socket.
I have wired the spotlight directly too battery, will this cause any problems?

Would suggest that you wire in a External 20-25amp fuse between the battery and the Spotlight.
If you pinch the spotlight lead and earth it, it will fry the wire and could cause a fire.
Repco have external fuse and holders, better safe than sorry.

If you want to be able to remove it, you could get a higher amped male and female fitting (Made by Hella) that is used for car fridges.
Wire the female plug and fuse to the battery and either mount or cut a hole for the plug.
Then replace the male plug on the spotlight with the car fridge plug. Cigarette lighter plugs are only rated to max 10amp.

Bro farmer solution...... Throw fuse away, replace with some no 8 or staples also work well and go spotlighting

Part number for the Hella plug is 4915 comes with a cover. You can still use your male cig plug but about $10 go to the higher rated male plug too.

Well the spotlight connector is fucked as the other night when the fuse blew I cut off a 4inch nail to size and had it going fine. Not long into the night spotlight went out 4inch nail fuse held but the mamby pamby connector melted into socket.

If I change the bulb get a 25amp fuse on the spotlight lead with clips to detach spotlight will it be good?

Not going to change the ciggy connection as that is farked. Natatale and others what do you reckon?
