    WoF impact?

I want to put a light bar on my car and for all sorts of reasons can't put a nudge bar on to mount it on. I've also tried the universal nudgebar for super cheap autos but no go either.

Just behind the grill is a strut running across the front of the car and I reckon I can make up a couple of brackets that can poke through the grill to mount the light bar on.

My question is, will the brackets protruding through the grill about 100mm impact the WoF? They won't be forward of the bumper but the lightbar will.

    Thoughts?

    Cheers

Can you mount on a roof rack bar? Set up a switched socket under bonnet and simply install use when off roading?

Best way would be to swing by your wof place and run the idea by them quickly. That said, it sounds doable to me, pretty sure I saw a subaru wagon the other day with a wee light bar floating just in front of the grille, looked to be mounted back through the grille in a similar manner to your intention.

It’s possible though that it might run afoul due to protruding further forward than the bumper

Just remember that a light bar on the front of the vehicle must be separately switched, can’t come on/off with your high beams etc.

how come you cant mount a nudge bar. Main thing with them is they have to be airbag rated. Its a fukn stupid ruling with light bars your not allowed to have them wired so you don't purposely high beam people with them but its legal to have it wired so when you dip your lights it can stay on. And then spotlights have to be wired the opposite which in effect they are both auxiliary driving lights....

mine is wired to the high low circuit. At wof time i just pull the high low switch wire off the relay and jump it so it operates independent of headlights..

I've got recovery points that attach to the same points as the nudge and it would be/is a shit to have both.
Didn't know the bar couldn't be wired to the high beam as that's exactly what I was planning on doing.

I see a quick release solution in my future.

the rules are vague. i have no issues getting the triton thru with main beam only lightbar, some warrant places say long distance light must be in pairs and people have put a stick on bit of plastic 1/2 way across the bar.
as with firearms laws its all about interpretation. should i be fined for blinding someone on purpose with a light bar. yes
should i be punished for lighting up a rural area in bad conditions: no

If it's just relatively lightweight supports for the lights poking through, and nothing else, I see no practical problem really. It's not going to impinge on the frontal impact system in any meaningful way is it

It may actually make it lighter

Adventure kings make a light bar that attaches to the number plate mounts, probably not top quality but a simpler solution for you I’d say

Mines the same, works with the Hi beam switch. I have a seperate isolating switch in the vehicle, which I switch off when I get a WOF. No probs to date
