    importing Frozen Semen i

Who is up on the play with importing frozen dog semen from around the world for either Setters or Pointers ? I do believe to bring stuff into NZ one does need to go about it in a special way for NZ MAF or one of the other department or she will be binned at the gate

From a customs point of view there is some paperwork involved - there are certain breeds (fighting breeds) banned so you need to prove that the semen is not from them.

Oh sorry didn't see that, it's in part B about the banned breeds.

i will be blunt with my own opinion on importing frozen semen.

forget it................................ semen vrs the whole dog it's actually cheaper to import the whole dog.

you can get a dog landed in nz for 10k or less if you use the right people and have a good contact overseas to look after the dog while it serves it's rabies stand down period, the freight costs are pretty good now the euro and us dollar is quite good.
buying the actual dog over seas is also a little cheaper too.
buy the dog, pay for it's keep for 6 mths and a the maf test fees, frieght, gst and 10 day jail time and you are way better off or
pay for vet tests of stud, collection and freezing, shipping, gst, storage, testing of bitch and insemination fee's and it will quickly add up to 5k plus and the chance it might not take or give you a very small litter.

It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
