    Training a ESS

Gidday all, I have recently picked up a new ESS pup and am wanting to put in a good (better) effort of training him. My previous ESS was a natural on ducks etc, loved retrieving them, especially from broken cover... But to be fair, I didn't put enough time into him training and I would like to do better this time around. We have shifted out of town now onto a few acres, and my duckpond is close by, as well as rabbits, hares etc on our place and the neighbours. I would like to get the new pup going on retrieving ducks, but also flushing rabbits/quail as I would love to start doing a bit more shooting over a dog.

Is there some good reading/resources on this sort of thing?

I also have a GWP pup coming (long story here, I have been wanting one for a long time, had to put down my ESS a couple months ago at 4 1/2yrs old, the ESS pup I have now is out of him - just by chance, We weren't going to get one initially when we bred from ours...) so I will have 2 pups in training. The base training will be much the same, but I will be using the GWP for deer primarily (initially anyway) so if there is any good reading/resources that would cover both these breed that would also be helpful.

I'm really keen to do right by both these pups, so any pointer would be appreciated.

Yeah I know... Never had any intentions to have 2 pups at the same time but that's what circumstances have dictated...
