Bugga, first I've heard of it. maybe I should get my head out of the sand now & then
I'm just wondering if its worth going? The 'Amnistice in Cambridge' at Karapiro lake to celebrate VE day every November have an antique arms show. Usually there's at least a dozen tables but last November there was only two. Hope tomorrows show isn't the same.

Yep, be there tomorrow for a look. In Auckland for the night anyway so worth stopping by on the way home.

Went today. Still a good amount of stuff there but noticed a few empty tables. Didnt see anyone buying firearms tho. Dont know why that would be...was tempted to buy a couple of things
I was there in the morning. Even without the register I'm not surprised not many rifles were selling. The prices of the few interesting things I saw were fantasy. It seemed to me to be a theme of bayonets, knives, and rifles being well over what I would consider market value - I've reviewed all the prices obtained in the last few auctions for things I'm interested in and I saw pieces 50-100% higher than what the same has been selling for. I'm also very sure most things on the selling tables wouldn't even get close to the prices on Trademe with a much bigger customer base.Quote:

Yeah, went along for a look and would have bought a shotgun if it had not been an activating event. Also, a spare magazine that would have been nice but no......... I think I can resist temptation until after the election.

wonder what the deal was with the brand new 270 marlin barrels for $50 was. Was tempted to buy a new 243 barrel to put on wifes rifle as she finds it a bit to much shooting it for to long

I went up and found a few interesting bits, was a ton of cheap rifle scopes. Bought a Redfield tracker and a Burris 2-7X which would suit a lee enfield very well.
I went for a look, was actually still better than expected but have to agree there was some overpriced stuff , I was interested in 1 gun , the guy wouldn't haggle + the rego thing would kick in so carried on walking ...
I find lots of sellers at the shows ask big dollars for some rubbish, have been ripped off once before but learned my lesson.
There can be bargains to be had however so pays to know what you are looking for.
Saw alot of regular faces from other shows too.
I thought it was a good show. Slightly more stalls than I was expecting, had to get there early because it was a frenzy. I picked up a few bits and pieces which I was happy with, I’d happily go again next time. I’d never purchase a firearm from an event like that as they seem to want ridiculous prices for them. But that’s just my opinion
Hopefully those who were trying to sell firearms at the shoe for ridiculous prices are reading all these comments.
I found it was a bit unclear on the process of buying things there. I was hesitant at first because I didn’t know how the registration table or checks before you left worked, I bought 308 cases and a bullet mold so technically I was not required to show my licence, I just had it ready anyway to speed up the process
I've always wondered if these types of punters have been told by their better halves to move some stuff on, but butter the wife up with "I'm selling a few of my rifles hun", slap the big price on and then get home with it unsold "no one was interested...I suppose I'll keep it for now"Quote:
