    Armistice in Cambridge

Hi all. I went to the Armistice in Cambridge yesterday, wasn't as good as previous years. There was no tanks, no artillery and only a fraction of the sales tables with no firearms for sale and very little milsurplus, mainly models. I can understand why there would be no Tanks with diesel being crazy expensive for transport but the lack of artillery display and sales tables was disappointing. The battle reenactments were still fun to watch.

Went on Saturday. Have the same opinion. Glad it was free entry this year though. Most displays are people's hobbies though so can understand why not many were here with what it would cost them

Yep, i would expect that the free entry also means the event no longer contributes to transport costs...

If you own a tank, the cost of diesel is the least of your concerns

I think Tauwhare military museum has closed.
They used to bring a fair number of military vehicles each year.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

Back on again this weekend. Might be of interest to a few of you. Quite possibly the worst advertised event around, I live 5 minutes away and only realized it was on because a willy's jeep drove past.

If I remember correctly the charges (costs) for a license / permit to run these is ridiculus now.....

Yep and the guys with the displays are not allowed to walk around with real firearms, some of those displays were amazing

I'm glad some places are doing something at least for Armistice. A couple of colleagues and I attended in uniform at the New Plymouth RSA. It was a brief 10min presentation/reading, with some other veterans and members of the RSA, with a minutes silence and laying of a wreath. Then into the NP club for lunch and a beer. There was no display or event as such.
