    Bring and shoot it event

The Te Puke Hunters shoot is coming again in about a months time.

In past years there have been good numbers of forum members come along, it would be good to try and have a "get together " again.

The format is a change up from the past and will be along the lines of if you hunt with it you can shoot it. It will be a prize shoot but prizes will be drawn not competed for, so essentially you will be competing with yourself or among your mates.

There is a caliber ( 8 mm ) limit (thats for safety reasons of passover shots onto other land.)

And NO MUZZLE BREAKS for everyone elses comfort ( you can shoot your breaked rifle when everyones finished )
    thats about it

    NO scope size limit

Any combination under a given weight limit.... so you can run a bipod and suppressor on your rig

Basically like I said if you hunt with it you can shoot it.

There will be a deer target at 300 yards and then as we step back to 500 and 600 yards it will be a bullseye target. All scoring will be electronic.
At the end there is usually a free for all ( under a range Officer of course ) to try out others gear etc, we could even have a couple of Labradars there if people ask.

You really only need to have a basic zero already sorted of 100 yds or meters which ever way you lean.
Followed by a barby and some political discussion on law changes ( but I will leave the subjects up to you! )

I came along last year, really enjoyed it and learnt a few things (e.g. that I shoot way better with a bipod than a daypack). A few people were surprised how well the 243 handled the breeze too!

Yep. You eill be able to shoot off yr pack or bipod and yr normal hunting scope. Deer target will be scored only on vital area hits. Essentially a great day out for hunters to sort themselves out before the roar. This one really hospitable club with many of New Zealands best shots on hand to coach where requested. About 30 shots for the day.

The NRA has an energy limit on their ranges. Best you contact Mike collings at Whakatane for the fine details I think. My guess is that because it is a magnum over 8mm that it would be a no.

    Course of fire is.
    7 rounds at 300
two sighters and five scoring hits. If you are tight or good or both you can convert the sighter/s to scoring hits.
    Same at 500
Same at 600 but shot twice
Giving a total score out of 100 ( max 5 points per shot ) so minimum rounds is 20, max is 28 but bring spares ( I might want to try your rifle and you might want to try mine kinda stuff.
