Bygone Era Forum Hunt Feb 2017

    Okay Guys

Following on from this thread the other month http://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co.n...-africa-27144/ I propose we run an event in February next year.

Now thoughts on the era we should look at and location?
I'm thinking maybe Piropiro Flats and based on 1917?

I like it. Everyone has to dress the era and use the same type of rations.

Make it 1918 and I'm ready. Better still make it 1920, 1917 will have us digging holes

I will be happy with bully beef and hard tack down in my trench Pengy. Interesting choice of year as there were more young woman around than young men. Waiting to see how Barefoot is going to arrange that little bit of detail for us.

Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Given the lack of people saying they are interested, it won't be hard to arrange at all

The memory brings a tear of joy to an old soldiers eye.

Barefoot you have gone about it the wrong way. It is 1917 so if no one responds to a call for volunteers then send out the draft papers.

Was anyone shooting 44 mag lever actions back then?
Nothing is tough about having a 70 lb bow and looking like an uncoordinated praying mantis while trying to draw it back.

If people would prefer a different time period speak up, 1890's or 1950's?
1917 was just a simple date as it would 100years.
