    Carvells auction

Been waiting for a thread about this for a while but it doesn't seem like anyone's mentioned it... I'm going yet again and ofcourse have my eye on a few things. Just out of curiosity who else is going off the forum? Oh and it's on the 13th of November for those who don't already know.

Going to make the trip up to Penrose this week and have a look at the stuff. Couldn't see much in the catalogue though that grabbed my attention. Could put a postal on the cased IRA Thommie gun I guess but don't have the 30k - 37k

Won't be going on the day, have a mate who attends so he can bid for me. Probably better that way, more clinical and no overruns from budget set.

Yeh, I've got my eyes on two bang sticks and a couple of little odds and ends, but will need to wait for the day... took a look at them early last week.
Last Auction some of the prices were very reasonable, and others were just simply ridiculous.

Yeah, evidently I was a little disappointed on what was being offered this time. But knowing me I will probably still bid on a selective few

Some cool old shooters, but why does anyone in NZ need a double drum mag for an AK?
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!

Probably for the same reason that someone "needs" a McLaren P1... 'cos they can.

Yeah well I'm just a run of the mill standard acat firearms holder. So atleast more than 50% of the items being advertised are ecat or ccat and are unavailable to me for purchase. In saying that my grandfather was a WW2 veteran, Deer culler in the kaimanawas, then later on Arms dealer and gun smith to top it off being a justice of the peace before he died. I would love to get my collectors license one of these days but just have to prep even more "collectors" books and such. I have a valid and legitimate reasons for one but only want to apply once and do it right. Some of the auctions have a heavenly amount of great firearms and some just normal numbers of which everyone will bid on. Every auction is a good laugh and always end up with more bangs sticks than I will ever probably shoot.

some people do timed competitions where drums can save you time due to eliminating/reducing mag changes. drums tend to not get used much but be a game changer for the odd match

or you own a c cat gun the mag was made for so its just a acessory for display
