Forum CCS donation aka The Toby Fund

Hey all, I know that there hasn't been much done with this over the past few months ( have been busy with other things like poxy work etc )

I also realise plenty on here won't know the history or reason of this but we basically give a donation to the CCF ( Child Cancer Foundation ) at the end of the year with proceeds raised through different means in the name of Toby Godley who was a young forum member taken by cancer.


The account is still active so I've come up with the idea of putting a small percentage of any sale on the "free" buy'n'sell section towards the fund, There is no pressure to anyone, will not be policed & is certainly not a requirement but if you have something laying around & feel like flicking it off then maybe make a note on your post that you're onboard

Bloody good idea. Could there be a sub thread in buy sell swap, listed as Toby fund? List items in there and the buyer pays into the fund? Bridge the gap between pay it forward and BSS? Just an idea, I'm happy someone is taking the time either way.

Yeah I'm not sure Larry, sounds like great idea but I don't run the forum & from my past experience with this sort of stuff keeping things super simple is always the best

Is there a "Toby shoot" this year? I was excited to to come last year, but even if it wasn't canceled I would have been stuck in Northland. We were allowed to leave, just not go into, out of, or through Auckland.

Awsome cause guys as some of u might know we nearly got dragged through this ringer ourselves with our middle daughter haven't got much to offer could maybe do a semi guided hunt for a meat animal for the right person and the right donation

Sadly I can't see there being an "open forum community" shoot in the near future, with all the new range restrictions, HnS & firearms security BS of the current times, it's just become more hassle'n'trouble than it's worth & although ( dare I say it ) C19 did play the main part in the last TB shoot being cancelled there was not the vibe, enthusiasm or numbers of the past


Personally for now I think the "Toby Shoot" is on hold, I would love to have another gong & competition shoot ( there are some great trophies to be won & treasured - plus a couple of new ones ) so hopefully once all this shit cools down we can get some momentum again & bring back the fizz & excitement of the first three.


For now I see it as a great excuse for people to just have a "forum" get together ( no range shooting ) but maybe just a woolshed or beach - bonfire type night out, I've been to a few forum type events like this & they're a great way to catch up - meet members, Pengies mid winter Xmas eco lodge parties are an awesome night, We need to do more of these, they don't have to be enormous events but are great for people to get out & socialize with other like minded & "different" types lol






PS - As stated previously, I will be sorting an online auction shortly, have had some generous offers from members for items & experiences to put up, I just need to sort my shit out & get it done - life seems to be getting in the way ( well mostly work )
