Getting Toby to the Sika Show - He's coming along, so come and be part of the fun...

    Hi All,

A small number of you might be aware that there’s a rumour that Young Toby might be hitting the Sika show this year. Which to me is pretty amazing given he constantly reminds me (when I ring him) that the Doc’s had originally not forecast him making it this far… Dude you consistently amaze me with your ability to make each day a new goal, and continue to fill your life with worthy experiences..

So after hearing about his fantastic trip “Down South” we’ve been thinking how in the North Island we can add to the great experiences shared by our forum brothers down in the Mainland.

Toby was pretty keen to see a few of your ugly mugs.. So we decided the Sika Show was both nice and central and that gave an opportunity to do this over an event, a beer and BBQ. Toby also had some other special requests so we’ve tried to thread those into the weekend also.

Firstly Thanks to Maca for putting together some accommodation for Toby over at Kinloch for the Weekend, and hopefully fingers crossed this is how the weekend will roll out…

On Saturday I’m Gonna grab Toby for the first part of the day from his slumber and we’ve organised an awesome fly fishing guide to take him fishing for a few hours. We’d originally hoped he would attend the next Reel Recovery retreat in February 2016, but we thought we’d drop this in as a wee taster for the young fella. Huge thanks to Craig Farrar from dreamtrout.com and troutshop.co.nz for helping me stitch this one up.

I’ll be getting him back to Taupo/Kinloch mid-afternoon so the boys (if I can call Rushy, Maca, and Happy - boys that is) for a bunny hunt, BBQ and Beer. I’ll let them follow up with the details round that little escapade.

Sunday I’m pretty sure Rushy will be subjecting everyone to one of his trademark Brecky, then hitting the show. Just look for the guy with the marker pen and his trademark autograph, yep it’s not hard to spot the young stringbean amongst us old buggers…

On Monday the 28th David Benfell editor at NZ Outdoor Magazine who together with LoadedNZ have put together a fantastic day at their facility between Tauranga and Rotorua for Toby and any of you lot out there who might want to attend. I’ve sold then the idea that it wouldn’t be the same without Toby’s forum mates being able to share this alongside him, so they have offered a special deal for the day of $50.00 per person (and you can purchase additional ammo there as well should you need to beyond the starter package) to partake in the planned activities and BBQ afterwards.

Guys… if you are thinking about taking the long way home on the Monday - I know Toby would love to see as many of you as possible to join him at LoadedNZ… Please any interested in taking this up let me know via PM so we can plan for numbers for the BBQ food etc. I’m sure Toby will be pleased to show you he hasn’t lost his touch with the shotty… Huge thanks of course to NZ Outdoor Magazine, and LoadedNZ for their support with this and you too Dave – Magic!!

So there’s the plan in its roughness – I encourage all of you if you’ve shared across the forum(s) maybe even not met Toby personally before, If you can make it to one of the events across the weekend –superb!, if you want to pop around and share a chat, word of encouragement for this lad -that continues, and always will amaze me…

    Cheers Carpe Diem

I agree B its guys like Dave and the also others like Craig, Rushy, Maca that are helping out for the weekend but also those who have already stepped up (especially you boys down south) that have made this place special. Qudos to you all guys. All I did was put a few guys on the spot, and you know what -everyone asked has jumped to be part of it. So support one another and especially these guys organizations if you get a chance would be cool.

Good buggers all round.. long may it continue...

I think @Scouser was keen prior to going to the UK - but this may have changed. Hopefully with this he'll check in...

I will definitely be keen to be along to the BBQ on the Saturday. It looks like due to family I'm going to have to make it a "day trip" down and back on the Saturday (well... creative license to that description) to sort Toby out with the Fly Fishing and rest of the things for the weekend, and then get him back to you guys and lesave him in your capable hands. The rest assured I'll keep co-ordinating in the background should this be required.

    cheers P.
