Thread: North Island Toby Shoot , 16-17 Oct 2021 (new date!)

Right lets light this up again for 2021


I'm happy to Announce that Duncan & Mel have offered to host the event again on their central Hawks Bay property, the shoot will be held in Onga Onga on Saturday October 16th

People are welcome to come & camp on the Friday, there will be a paddock to park / set up your sleeping arrangement's & there will also be a area in the woolshed to put a cot / set up a camp stretcher etc, Porta loos will be set up on site.

There will be a couple of BBQ's for people to use to cook their dinner ( please bring your own food, drink & nibbles )

Saturday's - Breakfast, lunch & dinner will be provided

Cost is $50 for a place to camp including a woolshed to use / sleep in, Saturdays feed & an entry to the range & shooting comps.


There will be multiple gongs of all sizes set up from 250ish to 2k, please have your rifles sighted in ( as there will be no sight in range ) Ear protection must be worn & eye protection is highly recommended, No Dogs


We will be having a few shooting comps, so the day will comprise of -

Morning - open range gong shooting
After lunch - shooting competition
Mid afternoon - open range gong shoot for an hour or two

Then a catch up, few drinks, plenty of laughs'n'bs, dinner, prize giving & what has become a bit of a tradition -I will run a quick auction of six -ten donated items. All proceeds will go to the The Child Cancer Foundation with the donation being put under Toby Goodley & the NZHS forum members.

Signed up but shouldnt that be .22 so we can see the legendary sterling in action?.

Couldn't think of a better charity for the $ to go to I donate to child cancer yearly especially after what we went though last year wish I had something of use to donate to the auction

PS - On the second TG shoot, we had a random forestry fulla turn up, brought a bunch of shit at the auction & was a real GC lol

Just a little update

Re - the TG auction, with all proceeds going to CCF

Anyone keen to donate please PM me, I will be auctioning off a few items at the shoot, but in the past it's become a little overwhelming on the night with the amount of items, so this year I'm thinking of having a limit & if we get an over run - putting the rest of the items on the "for sale" thread as I did a couple of years back, which I must admit worked quite well


Not to blow any trumpets, but we as the NZHS forum family have done amazing work here, Be it a few very generous people or someone spending $20 it has all added up & we have donated close to 30k towards Toby's hospice ( with contributed to getting his wish of a plaque on the wall ) & over the past couple of years to "The Child Cancer Foundation"


Not bad for a bunch of "Hunting & Shooting" enthusiasts aye

Re the shooting comps

Trophies will be the - as per photo of the last GC's to win it.

Aussie SAS precision 223 accuracy comp,

Te Stock - 300 standing gong ( with what ever cannon you like to use )

The Toby Goodley Memorial this was originally a 2k challenge but let's face it, not many have the gear or talent to go there. We now run this at around 1200-1400 as most people have a rig capable

Lastly -is a Hunters comp open caliber, will be 4 - 5 gongs at medium ranges, any cal but under a time limit & you miss you're out. No trophy for this yet but if anyone has something suitable then please let me know
