I was hoping to shoot all the South Island matches this year, but there are only 2 and the Hokonui match is on a weekend when I'm in the hills for work. Bugger.

Which of the NI matches is most accessible to fly to?

@gimp most of them are central NI so probably not much in it.

The Poipoi one would be an easy drive from Hamilton, probably the one I'd go for.
Rautiti and Ahititi are both pretty accessible from New Plymouth.
If you want to fly to a main center (AKL or WLG) then it's much of a muchness.

The 1 day Poipoi match would be a good one to dip your toes into and could probably hitch a ride with some from the Waikato. I'm going to try get to that one this year if time allows.

The Ahititi matches are just over an hour from New Plymouth, king country is about and hour and a half south of Hamilton. Plenty of guys driving from the major centres so easy enough to share rides.

Do these events allow spectators? Be really keen to come have a look and see what it's all about.

Yup. Would just pay to email the PRS. But generally spectators are encouraged. You’ll likely be offered a chance to shoot a competitors rifle after the match too.

I see there's a new "sportsman" division in the US PRS - 13lb all up weight, 6.5CM only

Looks like a way to divide results between the open guns and those that are a bit more "practical" focussed

Anyone know if it'll be run in NZ this year?

I don't think there is enough shooters to shoot divisions other than open. (and maybe production?)
