Thread: south island gong shoot

anyone in south island do one??

The greymouth boys do but I think they may have got pissed off with everyone who says they are coming then dont?

I can fully appreciate how they would feel .Believe it or not there is a bit of organizing that goes into these shoots and personal time to set things up .I took a day off work on the last Auckland shoot to map out where the targets would go and my friend Matt Ryan and me did all the work for when shooters turned up --one forum shooter came . Luckily we had others that enjoy this type of shooting and so then we were 7 in all . What was really good about the event is some had not shot more than 2-300 yards and they confidently went to 860 y didn't hit but then again we had very adverse sun conditions .
Moral of the story use it or lose it !!! Guys who organize these things will lose the will to look after people that say they ll come and dont bother

Hey LR I've never even shot past a hundy but would be keen..
Easy enough to make some gongs but I'd need a place to set them up.
I've only ever had a 3x scope.... have just upgraded and need to see what I can hit.
