Meeting on Dec 5th, 7 pm I think, Jack Hinton Room Greerton RSA
are these the same turkeys that have been shafting us for yonks
Is that room at the RSA fitted with scuppers?...otherwise people need to wear waders, the bull shit would be too deep for gumboots.
Who is going to be there from National?
I think we need to engage meaningfully with them regardless of any personal thoughts. I believe we need as many people on our side rather than rarking them up and disenfranchising them.
The other posts on here regarding David Seymour are to be commended and I know there are some National MP's who are livid with the actions taken by this govt. We need to harness that energy. The law looks like it will go through in March however the talk I have had with my MP is that National are eyeing up a possibility of changing the law back to a degree once in power. David Seymour's reported responses at his public meetings is a good source of intentions and at this stage that is all we have to rely on. I'd rather be seen trying and planning for some semblance of reality. National will need ACT as NZ First is not an option after the up and coming election. The trend to party Vote Act with your local MP choice open to your personal views seems logical.
Bridges, Hudson, Muller. Time to tell them the truth?
He'll yeah, Hudson got the message here quite clearly but also came back with things will never go back to what they were
We need to re enforce the message that the continued process of police making up rules and regs and the continued political harrassment of its law abiding citizens is completely undemocratic.
Any other topic / subject would be the base of a referendum but the legislation is now going too far without any political opposition to give it balance.
Anyone going?
Yep with a few others, 6:30pm for a 7pm start
Say hello from me
@Maca49.Please ask them on my behalf why my Grandfathers, great uncles, father, uncles were gassed, shot, shelled, starved, strafed and crippled and deprived of what should have been the best years of their lives; only to have the current parliament shit on their sacrifices, priciples and memory. Thanks, Woody
Was an interesting night, My feelings are, they are still just coming to realise what has happened to law abiding FAL citizens. None of the three present had an FAL. There was a fair amount of political bullshit for the vote. They will help us with repealing some of the actions imposed by the current arse holes, BUT as Simon said "we need to realise, NO govt will every go back to the old days" I got the feeling they still have a fear of firearms, he called them "weapons" and was corrected. They would reverse some of the ability to own "nasty" firearms for competition shooting under NZ pistol admin, ie B cat, Id really look forward to those draconian rules, but better than nothing? maybe, but you ain't taking them deer hunting etc.. They would look at dumping the cops role in administrating firearms, that's a positive.
They got their beans from many speakers, overall, good on them for fronting, what has happened is past, they will not support the new laws unless their "13 points for change" are accepted, they are keen for input on those 13 points, check their web site, and will consider extending them if you guys give the help with want you see needing to be added.
Hell i didnt think you were listening @Maca49.
Pretty good recall!
It is important for anyone wanting to use their vote as a political tool to read and understand those 13 points, they are available from Nats.
Sounds very similar to what ben Waimata and i heard we hudson spoke here. They are consistent at least.
We were told they were happy the way Nash and the police were bungling this buyback as it would make their job that bit easier at next election. Seems he's giving them all the assistance he possibly can.
No register under National!!
I looked at those 13 points with Hudson at the sika show. I commented to him that they were too open ended and easy to manipulate. Any comms to Nats need to close up the potential for weaseling imo.
Google "nationals 13 points on firearms" You Know about 'GOOGLE', HUH
for you @Rushy... https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political...arm-law-reform
I actually think following the submissions to the select committee we should help them rewrite this in light of the real issues that - they kept saying over and over came to light and attention of the select committee - But Deborah was gonna do absolutely squat about!
Proposed changes by National:
Introducing Firearms Prohibition Orders
Adding flexibility to dealer licences given the wider remit being proposed
Introducing clearer and more flexible rules for clubs
Introducing clearer and more flexible rules for sporting ranges
Ensuring the Register is clearly defined in legislation
Keeping licence duration the same as it is today
Including safeguards on healthcare practitioners reporting to Police.
Removing excessive regulatory powers from the Act
Introducing new and consistent exemptions for sports shooting
Providing for greater flexibility for pest control exemptions
Adding common sense amendments for collector exemptions
Amending the fit and proper person test to require some clear rules for assessing patterns of behaviour
Requiring common sense rules for visitors purchasing firearms over prohibition
Thanks fella’s. Maca, you can go take a flying leap you cheeky shit.
Yep and National said, if you think we will go back to the old rules, you can forget it, adding NO future government will ever do that!! All theywill add is a bit of logic to some of what has now been passed, they will not overturn it. I find that very very disappointing, but of the three blue coats in attendance, none of them had an FAL, or really understand them, they think they are just evil, like the other fcukers
I do believe National will make some token gesture next year as they must in opposition, but by new year the 20th will be forgotten, next year the media will be onto the 12 months since mid March followed by the very small number of ANZAC commemorations to be allowed and then the lead up to elections...as there will be no sacf there will be no protests from that quarter.
Met Hudson at the Sika show and chewed his ear for ~15 mins. I was left VERY unimpressed.
Close to zero understanding or willingness to admit the changes introduced under COL were shite and needed serious fixing and/or removal.
I have emailed the Nz first party and asked them what they are going to do for their votes on the second Traunch. Are they following Nationals lead and putting some space between themselves and the Labour party... are they voting with their conscience or supporting this debacle further.
i have also told them that what they do in the near future will effect them in the not too distant future regarding where my vote goes.
That was four days ago and other than a "got your email " I have not had a response.
I think we should be seeking out all the "other" political parties on what they intend to do with their vote, just so they know what we will be doing with ours.
I reckon "arse aboutface".
Well Maca not really holding out for a true and accurate answer, just wanting to have them think .....
Give Hudson a bit of slack. He has fronted in many places and listened reasonably; which action is eons better than the Coalition of Losers has done. He is also on the review committee alongside his potential partner from ACT, David Seymour. @Maca49 and others at least had the gumption to make use of the window that Hudson went out of his way to provide in order to listen.
I got the feeling he was window dressing, wishy washy, knowing deep down theyre going to do SFA for us, a little bit of titivating around the edges. But you need to vote for them to change the govt.
It may stablise with them, but the horse has really and truly bolted
Maybe; but COLFO has yet to take the COL stable into a court. I will be dissappointed if COLFO does not pursue a constitutional and procedural challenge.
Just made another donation to help that along. I see no other course of action as having effect. All the submissions on the 2nd tranche basically shrugged off Botox-style; a couple of wrinkles slightly smoothed out but still the same dog's-ass-ugly face of Stalinda's undemocratic overreach.
It would have been interesting to hear him at Tauranga and see if there was any difference to his delivery at the Pongaroa meeting. At Pongaroa he was talking to farmers, and I think he could see the pest control implications of the law change. He also clearly said no political party will have the ability (implying also no desire) to 'roll back' the law changes to allow general access to semi autos. So Nationals policy can be seen to be semi autos for sports shooters in a regime something like pistol rules, and wider access to semi autos for pest control under very tight conditions, and that's it. Anyone hoping for more is likely to be disappointed. Still better than Aussie though.
My today's COLFO donation confirmation number is just over 4,000 - so not that much of a percentage of LFAOs are putting their money behind this effort. For the record.
@Ben Waimata - what i really want to see is how National and specifically Mr Hudson responds to the 3 tiny changes to the proposed tranche 2 drafting...
That will be the measure of the man and Nationals intent or are they just giving it lip service. Surely the changes to ranges, ability to remain silent, role of the Police in defining what is allowed and what isn't - is far more important than the window dressing provided thus far!
