The competitor's choice... there are no equipment restrictions in either class.

Hunter class can be competed very well with a very simple off the shelf 22LR with a simple scope as long as you know your drops out to 80-100m pretty well. A tricked out target rifle might be a slight advantage in hunter class but you'll be up to win the chance to open a box of chocolates... Most people that have tricked out 22LR will enter open class for the higher round count and the challenge of the longer distances.

I'm more used to doing action M at 100m in 60 seconds with a mag change required after 5 shots.

Tempted, might give it a go.

Nothing stopping you shooting it under the NZSRA rules... Shorten the time limit and force a mag change. Of course my target size is about equivalent to getting only Vs on the fig.12 target...

I have a couple more stage videos coming out in the next few days - a speed stage, and prone stage that'll test some natural point of aim stuff, and one other stage.

Hunter class is certainly easier targets and I think the more relaxed shooting. Open class if it is windy will be challenging. Of course a bunch of the stages have an unlimited round count and so "trial by fire" is an acceptable method to achieve hits even in the wind...

In both classes a 10 shot mag would be fine. Two 5 shot mags would be fine in hunter class and you would be competitive with a single 5 shot mag. In open class, if I was competing I would be bringing two ten shot mags... Just because the unlimited round count stages.

Both these stages, as I have shown them here are Open class. In hunter class the stages are similar but also easier.

In hunter class you could manage with just a single 5 shot mag when I did it. Have a few rounds sitting in an open saucer or something and you will get an extra shot or two away. Shooting 10 shots quickly was just as effective as 5 shots carefully. Advice: be prepared to do some quick position changes, even a short sprint between shots. keep your ammo clean and dry, no fumbling. And know your drops without having to dial.
