2 person tents
Hi all
Before I go and spend a large portion of my hard earned money on a tent I thought I'd ask you all about 2p tents.
I've done ample googling but that never can replace real world knowledge.
So most of my hunting will be in Central NI ruahines, kawekas wanganui np.
The 3 I have which I like on paper
Nature hike cloud up 2p
Marmot tungsten UL 2p
MSR hubba nx
Now could I ask the wealth of knowledge for your expertise.
Cheers Paul

Been down this road recently myself, looking for a 2 person tent for me and the wife on fairly easy trips.
I already have an Exped Sirrus2 4 season tent but it weighs 3 kg and a Vaude 1 person 4season so went with an MSR Hubba hubba nx.
The AliExpress tent will be ok but may have a short life span due to the cheap materials they often use. Looked at the Marmot tents as well but got put off by a seam on the floor rather than a bath tub floor.
Went for the Hubba Hubba because it ticked most boxes, reasonably light but not super light materials and a reasonably hard wearing floor compared to the likes of the super light weight tents. Reasonably happy with it, you do need to seam seal them yourself these days and the outer zip on the fly can be difficult to close if you have the tent really taught.

Get the Big Agnes Ultralight. Awesome tent.

if you are not in a hurry keep you eye on TradeMe as post Xmas hols there's usually a few good tents, often hardly used, that come up for very good prices. Another one to consider is the Vaude 2p ultralight and TerraNovas - but they dont come up cheap. I've got several including one of the older HubbaHubba's that I've used quite a lot. Good light weight tent but you want to be careful about your choice of site if tops hunting and you're expecting heavy winds. Scored a MontBell 2p ultralight off TradeMe that I used last season in & around Fiordland in some pretty average weather. it stood up very well, but definitely not a 4-season tent.

I picked up an Exped Mira 2 the lady who sold it hardly used it.
Bought for $290-300 from memory last year.
Exped is another brand you could look at on sale or on trademe.
