Its a pretty decent steel.

Sandvik 12C27 knife steel

I can testify to the edge retention of the small folding Eka knifes.
As far as factory knives go (and Im a long way off testing all of em ) they seam very good so far

Yea i really want one of those EkA swing blades and im finding with my knives keeping the edge is an annoying thing when you think you have a good edge then its not to flash......:omg:

I have tried another hand made knife (NZ made) and not impressed. Wouldn't hold an edge. Went blunt just gutting a pig. Happy to give it away to any member.
I guess it's why some guys shoot a Sako and others prefer a Marlin, or an SMLE (if you see what I mean).
Just because it's the right knife for me, doesn't mean it's right for others.
