    ACR Beacon Servicing

The 'beacons' website provides contact details for a single service agent for ACR beacons in NZ, but Google offers additional options.

Any recommendations as to an agent to service ( battery time expired) an ACR ResQLink?

    TIA,

To sure if advisable but I think that I may personally replace my battery when it expires and keep it as a 2nd PLB or spare...

Servicing the batteries on a PLB is a rort. There is little reason why changing the battery shouldn't be end user maintenance.
PLBS should also be heavily subsidised or at least GST exempt.

Battery life. Had gone past the use by date and the test was flashing a battery fault.

Yea Mouser308, I would buy a new unit, but would not hurt doing a diy cheaply on the old unit and having as a spare for times when needing two units.

search for KTI, they are the only models that have a 10 year battery life as far as I know.

I recommend Wilco. When I sent mine he tested it and said it was good for at least another x years, free of charge! Super service.
Sent back for the battery change later. Was about $120-150 ish I think.

I searched for it but cant find a seller, but I did see a page saying that KTI PLBs have been discontinued which is a bummer. 10 yr battery life is very economical. My old ACR ResQLink 375 has 'expired'. Supposedly a battery change should only cost 15 dollars but the way the system works it turns out costing a couple hundred to do a battery replacement. https://advrider.com/f/threads/acr-r...cement.749245/

Either way right now deciding if i should replace my plb or get it serviced.

GME looks ok with 7 yr battery warranty, 480 nzd https://www.mobilesystems.co.nz/prod...ocator_Beacon)

Ocean signal Rescueme looks even better 7 yr battery warranty, cheaper at 400 nzd. https://skippersmate.co.nz/ocean-sig...ocator-beacon/

Need to shop around as some websites sell the same product at over 100 dollars more than others.

The KTI 10 year model is gone as KTI got out of the PLB market last year I think. Shame as they are good units I have one.
