Im looking for some feedback on whether this is too much gear for a dayhunt.
In the day bag:
Sunhat
Raincoat
Mutton cloth
Binoculars
Saw
Instep crampons

In the drybag:
Socks
Polyester thermal base layer
Polyprop longjohns
Dynamo torch

10rds ammunition
Oily pull through
Roll of insulation tape.
In the Mesh bag:
Esbit cooker and cup
Coffee
Hexamine fuel tabs
Lighter
In the plastic zip lock bag:
An israeli bandage type wound dressing
2 squirts of saline
Roll of insulation tape
On my to buy list is a PLB and a better first aid kit.
In my belt I carry knife, steel, leatherman multitool, compass, candle, lighter and signal mirror.

It's worth weighing everything and putting it all in a spreadsheet then trying to find lighter versions of all the heavy items.
You can do a lot better than Johnny walker. Get a real single malt of liquorcabnet.co.nz our whiskyandmore.co.nz and take what you need in a small plastic bottle. I assume it's for celebrating after you shoot the stag not before...
Don't skimp on the thermals, raincoat, touch and food. Plan to spend a unexpected night out because you still at some stage.
Just leave the booze at home and celebrate when you get home.
