    affordable compact sleeping bag

Yes, I know there's 30 zillion existing sleeping bag threads out there, before I begin.

I'm after a cheap(ish) compact bag - my current one packs down to about the size of 10-15L bucket. I've seen other people with ones that pack down even smaller, to about the size of a rugby ball or even slightly smaller. Who makes these? I try and run a smaller pack when bush stalking, as tall packs snag on all manner of branches, and my current sleeping bag takes up most of my pack.

The Roman palm series would be one to look at in that price point, I've got a palm visa and have been pleased so far. Has kept me warm in the west coast whilst it's been snowing. What comfort rating are you after? To get a rugby ball size bag and cold weather performance you really need to look at down filled bags, they get pretty expensive.

Ive got one of these https://www.mountainhardwear.com/hyp...ize=25&start=0

Compact and light. I use a thermal liner if conditions are cold. I leave it in the bag and it doesn't add anything to the bulk.

I find it fine for summer, spring and autumn in a tent. I have been cold a couple of times and just wore thermals as well.

I have an Ali express duck down bag. For 100 bucks it's great.

And packs down really small and light.

Thanks guys, I'll have a look at these. Only after three season performance really, and not fussed with down. I currently have a $30 synthetic job, have spent some horrible winter nights in that, but use thermals in conjunction with it now.

I would rate mine as a 3 season for sure. But I imagine with a liner and thermals it'd be fine for North Island
