    Afordable Sleeping bag

After something for the missus to use once in a blue moon so doesn’t need to be the ultimate bag - just something affordable - relatively light and compact with a okay temp rating for April - so probably a 3 season? I think a 4 season that matches that will be overkill and expensive and if it does get cold she can wear more clothes inside it. I already have a good sleeping Matt for her to use so she will be off the ground.

    Cheers team

so a down 3 season, get a liner as well I found I sweat too much even in April (now that I think about it even in june)... the khatmandu ones are reasonably priced light and pack down well

If you have a garden and a library, you have all you need. Oh, and a dog, and a rifle

Currently comparing the macpac standard 400 down and the Kathmandu zenter -3

The Kathmandu looks to compact smaller and weighs less 100g less but is $70 more.

Well it depends... is she a cold sleeper, does she mind a smaller bag or want more space. Where are you going and how cold does it get?

Assuming central NI, you can get frosts, but if she has a lightweight puffer that will add a few degrees so a bag rated around -3 to -5 should be ok. If cold sleeper go warmer.

If you want lighter weight, then you need a slim cut, better down (800+) and thinner fabric (7-10d) to get better warmth/weight ratio. Cheaper bags generally have roomier cut, lower quality down (550 etc) and heavier fabric (20d) . So they weigh more.

So a bag like the One Planet Nitrous -3 (572 grams) is in that zone, use that as a starting point and check out all the other brands with similar specs.

I would also consider a quilt - like those from kiwi ultralight I really rate my quilt, in warmer conditions just have it like a blanket.

Definitely shop around there will be something good on special.
