HO1R just turned up,choice light.:yarr:
Well guys - several months since I posted this thread about selling the product in NZ. Today an important message...
As of this week I will no longer sell the Maxtoch gear. The buyer situation will revert to what it was few months ago e.g. buying direct from China on aliexpress, or locally if something suitable appears on trademe. The product as all users/owners will know is amazing, the individual buying experience from aliepress is good, but Brian (gadgetman) and I have found the ethical behaviour of this company in a business relationship to be very poor. We'll not bother with it. Sales have been great, and its been a real pleasure dealing with guys on the site - but we will go no further with this Chinese company. No further comment there.
Key points for you:
* The gear is amazing - continue to use and enjoy it. We certainly will.
* Brian will continue to service Maxtochs bought in the past - including everything sold through me - so long as parts are still available.
* He will however not be servicing any new Maxtoch sales in NZ or from other sellers from this time. Maxtoch will likely try to set up their own service agent, and if you buy more lights you must enquire first, from aliexpress or whosoever sells lights to you, if they carry a proper minimum 3 year service warranty. You need to know this, and who will back them. Brian has been servicing even original Maxtochs 8 years old - but from now you must know the service backing with any Maxtoch you buy. Hopefully they'll sort out a service arrangement quickly.
* Can't advise anything on new LR lamps etc - we haven't had effective answers.
* Brian and I will continue to be available for any/all questions about product and what suits your shooting situation etc...as before.
We'll be seriously enjoying the Maxtoch gear once the Cantab hills dry out and we can get back out there. Enjoy yours - there is nothing better!! And yet...
A quiet word :) ... Maxtoch are the world's best hunters at the moment ... but ... in the last week we've already started designing a new generation of hunter lights - well beyond even the latest Maxtochs. Want to push those boundaries to whole new places. Won't be quick - will take a while. The whiteboard is covered in drawings, the physics is being assessed, and Brian has to get his lathe out to make ali prototypes.. Would be nice to do it all in NZ - ali heads/tubing work etc - we'll see. Important point here is NO your new Maxtochs will not become obsolete - their performance is good for 10 years - even a lifetime if parts available. But once again... the new cometh.. :)
Been an absolute pleasure dealing with all the guys - for both of us. Keep in touch - and remember - may not be selling now but any questions we're always happy to help - as before.
Cheers Mike
Hey Mike was great to meet you and pick up my gear the other night, although I won't be needing any new lights for a while I look forward to seeing what you and Brian come up with in the future.
@mudgripz I have been procrastinating about buying a M1, if you still have any available I'm keen to buy, and a couple of 30mm and a 34mm scope mount for the M1? Cheers

At this point I have only a couple of full 2X setups left - i.e. 2X, pairs of 3500mAh batts, plus charger set.
For your M1 Claw its Aliexpress - IF - it is the time set model M1 Brian and I finessed for NZ. And b4 you buy there or anywhere you need to be sure about NZ warranty backup - 3 years minimum. These aren't $30 lights.. Maxtoch also sell the mount sets on aliexpress.
It's has been good fun over the years, pulling them apart, rehashing, suggesting changes, ....
Onwards and upwards. Development will be slow as I only get about 20 minutes on my feet at a time at the moment, followed by a few of hours recovery before I can walk again. Though plans are afoot to sort that out too.
Wow
Well I can definitely attest to how good the Maxtochs are - and also how great Mike and Brian have been.
I have no doubt Maxtochs success is due not only to the technological advantages of their torches, but more significantly, the effort and significant technical design input from Mike and Brian
I feel for you guys that matters have not gone the way you might have hoped/expected.
Good on you for your sincerely appreciated hard work, and all the very best in your own endeavours!!!
Si
That’s sucks mike
Thanks for being so awesome to deal with
Will watch your next development with interest
Happy to be a test bunny
Cheers
I think it's a testament to both @gadgetman and @mudgripz that you still back these products even though the business relationship hasn't proceeded. Thank you both so much for all your advice and service.
You could've come on here and slandered the shit out of maxtoch but you haven't perhaps there's a lesson in that for all of us.
That is typical salesman behaviour. Something I've noticed over the years. Work for one outfit and slam the oppositions products. Move to the opposition and start slamming the company you were working withs products that were so much better than the stuff they're flogging off now. Then they wonder why the same customers don't really trust them.
More like knife makers. They make things as good as they can. If they were honest with themselves they would have to admit they are just having to sell them so they can go and make some more.
Maxtoch best all-purpose hunter lights on the planet right now - that's a fact. Enjoy them. We will.
But we are getting very interested in the new generation lights as design thinking starts to take shape. The idea of four new, pure purpose driven hunter lights is starting to unfold - slightly different concepts from the past. Well beyond them in performance - and application in the field. Mmmmmm...
Gadget has a smile on his head. We'll see! ;)
Do tell more
Will take a while to get the new generation light planning off the mark - so enjoy the Maxtochs - great lights. They don't come better... until..
Fact is we could have picked any chinese light company years ago when we picked Maxtoch to develop designs with. They were unknown here and knew nothing of hunter lights. And at this stage we can easily pick another company to develop new range - if we go that way. But ... we'll take our time to get it all right. 3-6-12 months ... who knows? The design work has begun.
One thought - an email from Maxtoch suggests they may do future servicing in China, which means you will have to courier new lights over there and back for any running repairs/replacements. That's not ideal for local buyers and I do hope they change to a local service agent. Just be aware of this when buying new - am also not sure if its a full 3 year warranty. A little thought needed when you buy now..
Still have a full 2X set plus couple of chargers here if anyone keen - these serviced by Brian
Brian's health not the best - but he did manage to change the alternator on my truck the other day.. :)
It’ll be interesting to see what you come up with...

I’m sure any new developments will be commercially sensitive.
Please put me down to buy one of your new lights/torches
:D:D If/when it happens you'll know about it...
Kind thought GW. We're all good for the moment... alot of pondering to do..
It will take fair amount of time to design and make the mock-ups, do the testing, get the physics dead right with the designs. Then planning best production method not only to produce high quality goods but to protect them. Realistically could take 6-12 months to get prototypes ..
Maxtochs number one lights for quite a while yet... :)
My H01R turned up yesterday. It’s great! Looking forward to trying it in the field.
Hi so order for head lamp and charger etc now canceled ?
All best for youre next adventure
No information on new LR headlamp - best to watch Maxtoch on aliexpress - and remember to ask what guarantees are now.
One small miracle - a last M1 Archer set has become available after order fell through.
The M1 kit includes carry bag, holster, lanyard, spares etc, and comes with pair of Maxtoch 3500mAh 18650 batts, plus Maxtoch Xtar charger set (wall/usb/car adaptors) for $175 delivered. $145 without charger. Note this Archer will be serviced by Brian here in NZ.
Let me know if interested - likely to vanish very quick :)
All yours Claw. PM sent
Cheers Mike
Another final sale that didn't happen...
I have one last Maxtoch 2X Shooter setup - comes with pair Maxtoch 3500mAh 18650 batteries and a Maxtoch Xtar charger set with wall/usb/car adaptors if required. Note - this one will be serviced by Brian here in NZ..
Brilliant hunter light - my own all-purpose favourite. $240 delivered with batts, or $265 with charger as well.
I also have a little single slot Xtar 18650/21700 battery charger with USB plugin. Good brand - fine wee charger and ideal for Archer/HO1R etc or to keep in truck with usb - $15 delivered.
(Extra $5 for RD)
Cheers Mike

If only I could justify a use for 3 :D
:D You can borrow mine Dan...
2X setup sold..
Single Xtar charger remains at $15 - useful for HO1R/Archer or as back up for truck..
Seriously looking forward to getting out again once the farms dry out down here. We all have 2Xs and M24s etc, but we're gonna do a little M1 Archer shoot. See how they get on. Should do very well because they actually have more power than our big halogen spotties of just a few years ago.
Anyone done much shooting with wee Archers yet?
Be good to hear some stories with the lights ... and see some photos too if you have them..
Andrew (7mmsaum) has taken some photos of XPro lighting up buildings at 600-800m with ease, and will take some 1000m shots.
If you get any pics - post em!
Mmmm... just thinking - I won't sell Maxtoch through this thread now but let's change thread character a bit and make it about using Maxtochs and other gear - few stories and pics for the lights and other good stuff.
Here's a tale - mate and I walking an area at night with the 22s and some pre-Maxtoch lights. Both picked up a bunny in the lights at about 60 meters - put two lights on him. Next thing he starts running straight towards us - as they often do. Mate - who's usually very good - takes a shot and misses. Bunny keeps running up to us. Next thing he's like 10 meters away - completely bamboozled by the lights - and mate's trying to shoot him one handed - rifle in one hand torch in the other because he can't see anything thru scope - its too close. He misses. Rabbit keeps coming. Mate takes final shot at about 2m trying to point rifle down at bunny, but he keeps coming. Then bunny stops at mate's feet and sits there! Mate reaches down and just picks him up!! So we have a talk with him - tell him he's the luckiest bunny on the planet, wish him well, ask him to bring his relatives next time, and with much laughter let him go. He trots off! Only catch and release we ever did!
Ive seen a heap off deer in the Archer while walking out at night. I guess out to 250 yards and they looked very shootable.
Im thinking a good combination for solo "meat collection" would be the big torch hand held for spotting and the little Archer mounted on the rifler for shooting.
