Ok its time to see what these things are all about, where in chch would I get my hands on one?

Farmlands(the new CRT) and Bunnings. Probably more outlets. The last few I got were around $12. Got them scattered thru most vehicles here
Hmmm farmlands in culverden might stock them @Ryan_Songhurst I can see the use of a few spares lying around, like in the Kitchen!!!
I bought one to try out but wasn't overly impressed - too used to using something with better balance and 'personality'.
That said I also bought a couple of Opinel's to try [based on comments made on the forum], and they I like! Super simple design, nice thin blade for slicing, and you can shape the handle to suit your needs. Yet to try them out doing a field dressing but have used them on tow hunts now as 'camp' knives in the hut.
The Bahco could benefit from a reshape by making it drop point, just a little bit of down angle on the point. Be meaning to modify mine.

Personally the Bacho is a bit straight for me as a main knife. Alright to have in a ute, tool box quad etc though.

Are you after a bahco in particular or a knife in general, if the later I may be able to help out.
George Henry has them. Main South rd
Bunnings in the tool section, they are great value.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!
Ok, I have started making knives, I have a few people on the forum testing my skinners but have some bigger camp knives and some smaller edc type fixed blades that I still need testing, Stewart Island would certainly be a solid testing ground for them.
I use O1 tool steel that I hand shape by file and sandpaper, I then get that professionally heat treated in a vacuum furnace before a double temper cycle to bring them to a Rockwell of 59 (they test and seem to hit ththe mark every time so far).
I handle them with either wood (untreated so can move with humidity and cause damage) or micarta, which is impervious to pretty much everything, they are usually lined, epoxied and I have got an engineering company to make me up loveless bolts, so the handles are on pretty solid, full tang only.
I make up leather sheaths to fit, although I have only just got the leather tools and am pretty shoddy at the moment, getting faster and better slowly.
If you wanted one I would send you the knife with a return postage paid envelope so that once you had used it and got bored with it you could send it back with your thoughts, this first batch is prototypes, so not super pretty but solid, just trying to see what works to decide if I want to get into it more; got mates who keep getting me to make chef knives but I would prefer hunting ones as they are more fun.
