    Battery back up for 4x4

I am looking for one of those small, portable battery backups which you can start your truck off if the main battery goes flat out in the boonies.

Has anyone got one, any recommendations as to brand etc

I have 3, one in the boat one in the ute one in the river basher, all have been used at sometime for either myself or someone we have come along that is in strife, their ease of use and reliability have given a lot of peace of mind when travelling a long way from help, one was purchased at Super Cheep and the other two from Repco

One is just a repco brand the other two are mechpro, both look the same, used one to jump a 115hp 6cyl tractor once no probs, they are 1200 amps but im sure you can get even bigger they just cost more

I had a reasonably cheap repco one. it shat itself in less than 2 years and Im pedantic about keeping things charged.
we have had a few at work, bigger 12-24v ones, they won't work on big batterys that are nearly completely flat but do the job if its just not enough to crank.

in saying that the old mans one is still goin must be 3+years old but only gets used to run a shower in the roar lol.

check amp hours/cca against price of the common retailers.
    4cyln 6 8 etc means nothing.
