    +1 great advice guys, i have Asolo (Italian) boots for the mountains with steel shank for less flex & Mammut boots for bush hunting, goretex lined which have more flex & give.......

    had a pair of american 'Danners' boots which lasted me over 20 years with just one re-sole....they were leather and really comfy......
