They don't have a gortex or other liner like a lot of boots either. Better if river crossing where they are full of water all day. Cooler in summer to.
My Zamberlane Voiz gtx are the mostly comfortable boots I own. Fairly light and fit like a glove. Even after a long day on the hill I don't feel the need to take them off when I get back to the car. A pleasure to wear.
My kick arse/snow/rocks or kick whatever you like boots are my Garmont Pinnacles. Big high rand and very stiff sole. Great in the mountains in winter. I have a pair of Scarpa Mantras which are similar but have only done a couple of trips in them. So far so good though.
Good combo! I can't be stuffed taking a photo but I currently have a pair of Vasques for softer stuff and work, La Sportiva Makalus for rougher stuff which are fantastic (about 12 years old and still going strong), and Asolo AFS Guide (plastics) for winter snow+ice stuff which don't get used that often these days.

The Vasques are a bit too soft for my taste though, at some stage they'll either wear out or get retired to just work boots.

Something nearly as stiff/solid as the Makalu but a lot lighter would be ideal for an all-rounder.
