Thread: Bino harness suggestions

And now for something different
I recently ordered one of these as I wanted something light but still secure for the Swarovskis. I wanted it to feel secure and not bounce/swing around and after 3 trips I am very pleased with this harness

Yuck my liecas come with something similar but webbing and even that feels like I somehow got tangled up in the missus thong. Definitely wouldn't hike with it on and I'm too lazy to take my pack off with to put that on. May suit a few situations just not mine

Not to be to negative about the twinneedle harness ( which I javelin used for 3 years now and it's good but it's not perfect.

I find on my frame it hangs quite low on my chest. The zips seem to undo themselves with a set of larger binos like geovids. And the intersection between zips and magnets let it sticks dust etc quite bad at times. They are also useless on horseback as they open constantly and have 5o be tied closed which was the Bain of my existence while guiding in Canada as to glass quickly I had to untie a knot. I also wish they were waterproof. And there hardly any space once you put in geovids. Chucking my phone in I'd a squeeze and a lens pens just slips in between the hinge. Mine aren't v2 I don't think so maybe some of these issues have been addressed and they are solid but watch out for people saying they are perfect.

I plan to try the kuiu pro harness or the stoneglacier harness next then if they don't work out I will make my own

Agreed. The actual harness system of the kuiu is far superior to the twin needle, much more comfortable. However the TN has a couple of extra features like secure phone storage, MOLLE attachments. I run geovid 10x42 with no issues

The updated version has been quite improved since yours @Stocky

What's the improvements? Have they solves my issues? If like them to make one out of the newer ultra fabrics etc for waterproofness.

I had one of the Gen1 packs but returned it, haven't had your model

However I'm able to have the harness sit quite high, never had zip issues, geovids fit very nicely without any issues removing in and out

Interesting that someone is selling this type of low key bino harness / lanyard in NZ. I was only aware of Rick Young in the US commercializing this idea. I looked into it a number of times as they look simple and streamlined, and while he sells them for only $25 USD, the shipping to NZ is the killer. Youtube now also has numerous videos of people making their own versions from paracord or bungy cord and a couple of knots and clips and buckles. I might still try to make one as sometimes a chest-pack type harness is too much.
