Bino harness suggestions

Looking for bino harness suggestions, more specifically something that you can easily add or carry other devices on.
I currently have a badlands and whilst I love it, they don’t seem the best option for carrying other devices on.
The bushbuck one seems kinda of cool with a range finder and ammo pouch underneath the main bino compartment but I haven’t seen one in person. Anyone have any experience with these or have any other suggestions.
Atm I am looking to carry a range finder and light weight bipod on my harness with binos.

Twin Needle. You’ll fit binos and a rangefinder and Bipod in the separated back section. I run 10x42 EL’s and Sig Rangefinder and a diamond stone in the back bit no worries.
Those bushbuck ones will fit all your stuff and more they’re bloody big and bulky like having a day bag on your chest

Another one for the twineedle. I have tried many brands and found their one the best by far. I have Binos and range finder inside the bag. PLB attached to one side, and spare knife and sharpener attached to the other. I won’t be changing any time soon.

I rate my Kuiu harness. Best I have used for low profile simplicity and ease of use getting binos in/out a lot etc. Haven’t used twin needle but plenty of people obviously rate it.

Has Kuiu enclosed the rear of their bino harness now? I had one of the original models and thought it was great until one particular day of bush bashing and climbing through scree and matagouri and took my binos out to find sticks and matgouri spikes and little stones and all sorts rattling around in the bottom giving my ELs a good old scratch up

Yeah I like mine - I was going to buy a TwinNeedle one but picked up an as new second-hand Kuiu one nice and cheap. No magnets/zips/etc and really compact. The harness is really comfy and unobtrusive under a day pack.

Also running a Twinneedle bino harness, totally rate it. Add pouches with mole as required (I've got a slim pouch on the front that is perfect for the little extra items).

I've got a hunters element bino defender, it is fine for the binos but it's a challenge putting anything else in there like a snack bar, range finder etc.

Also the magnetic catches tend to f*** up your compass so just be aware of that

Twin Needle, has range finder on side, have added another pouch on the front on occassion and my hip flask slips in the back pocket. Also room for cell phone which makes easy access to NZ topo on line and for photos etc.

I have been using the bushbuck bono harness and can carry binos,gps,folding knife and rangefinder comfortably,the bigger size has not yet become an issue and I enjoy wearing it,my hunting is mainly bush stalking and watching slips,if I don’t require a rangefinder I put my headlamp in it’s place.Having all that gear handy has been awesome.

And now for something different
I recently ordered one of these as I wanted something light but still secure for the Swarovskis. I wanted it to feel secure and not bounce/swing around and after 3 trips I am very pleased with this harness

Yuck my liecas come with something similar but webbing and even that feels like I somehow got tangled up in the missus thong. Definitely wouldn't hike with it on and I'm too lazy to take my pack off with to put that on. May suit a few situations just not mine

Not to be to negative about the twinneedle harness ( which I javelin used for 3 years now and it's good but it's not perfect.

I find on my frame it hangs quite low on my chest. The zips seem to undo themselves with a set of larger binos like geovids. And the intersection between zips and magnets let it sticks dust etc quite bad at times. They are also useless on horseback as they open constantly and have 5o be tied closed which was the Bain of my existence while guiding in Canada as to glass quickly I had to untie a knot. I also wish they were waterproof. And there hardly any space once you put in geovids. Chucking my phone in I'd a squeeze and a lens pens just slips in between the hinge. Mine aren't v2 I don't think so maybe some of these issues have been addressed and they are solid but watch out for people saying they are perfect.

I plan to try the kuiu pro harness or the stoneglacier harness next then if they don't work out I will make my own

Interesting that someone is selling this type of low key bino harness / lanyard in NZ. I was only aware of Rick Young in the US commercializing this idea. I looked into it a number of times as they look simple and streamlined, and while he sells them for only $25 USD, the shipping to NZ is the killer. Youtube now also has numerous videos of people making their own versions from paracord or bungy cord and a couple of knots and clips and buckles. I might still try to make one as sometimes a chest-pack type harness is too much.

I use a 'Military messenger' style bag hanging on my left side just above the hip. A small strap round the guts and it doesnt move. Water proof and not in the way for a prone shot and doesnt tangle the mustering stick

Agreed. The actual harness system of the kuiu is far superior to the twin needle, much more comfortable. However the TN has a couple of extra features like secure phone storage, MOLLE attachments. I run geovid 10x42 with no issues

The updated version has been quite improved since yours @Stocky

I had a look at a Rick Young harness previously.

Some like the simplicity. Again freight Down Under put me off for what it is .

I was looking at some Hunters Element gear recently.

I think Bushnell have copied the Rick Young harness and after purchasing it I reckon it would be an easy DIY project. I know for me it works and did 20kms last weekend and hardly knew it was there. I have attached the Swarovski lens protectors to the harness to give a little extra protection and if it rains heavy then into the pack it goes.
My old harness weighed 350gms, this weighs under 50gms

I had one of the Gen1 packs but returned it, haven't had your model

However I'm able to have the harness sit quite high, never had zip issues, geovids fit very nicely without any issues removing in and out

Ive dropped the Twin Needle and gone back to the Hunter Element harness, also had issues with it hanging to low and opening up. My 10x42 el's fit in the Hunter Element pocket great with no room for anything else, keeps it compact and close to the chest. Rangefinder goes in the shirt pocket.

They are an Alaska Guide creations with vortex branding. I use one and really like it. Holds binos, rangefinder, earplugs, phone, small torch, havalon blade changer etc, also find it doesn’t get in the way despite the junk I carry in it. My binos are light though, so not sure how it would go if you have a weightier model.

As mentined earlier in the thread the bino harness has gone through some changes. The first bino harness i became aware of in NZ was about 2005 which was a basic support harness that Leupold put out followed by others makes that were pretty much similar except branding logo. I purchase a Hornaby branded one and it was a great improvement with less weight on the neck area and the bino load spread out, but still exposed the bino lens to the elements. Later about 2011 the harnesses were improved with an enclosed pouch to protect your bino's especially when carrying around those Swaro's Leica's etc. I moved onto a Leupold Harness system that fully covered my bino's (Kahles 10x42) and still use it to this day. Later i purchase the first design Kuiu bino harness system for my back up spare 10x42 bino's. As said earlier in this thread, it wasn't quite fully enclosed and allowed twigs etc to get into the pouch. I guess in Europe/US that designed it based on their open country style of hunting? I still use my original Leupold harness system with the water proof Kuiu storm cover stolen from the other harness system i have. And have my rangefinder attached to one side via the velcro straps on the Leupold system. Under the main bino flap is another pocket that houses cleaning cloths, puffer etc. Also the small bungy release catch on the Leupold system is great - don't even need to look down, just raise the bungy catch slightly & out with the bino's.
What i have noticed over recent times is that bino harness systems offered are turning into mini front packs that i suspect some hunters would be challenged to see where they are putting their feet lol. Can't see myself using those ultra light bino harnesses. Great for walking around on the tops etc but no protection for the lenses if you are bush bashing or hands and knees under trees to get between clearings or through matagouri.
So many options for carrying stuff, bino front harness is convenient but a pain if you want to drop to a sudden prone shot, hunting belt with pockets, or hunting back pack back it much slower to get to glasses in and out.

I ended up buying one from mountain high clothing in timaru, along with a belt pouch. Great quality and water proof and tough as nails.

I'm using an Allen harness which I've had for about 8 years. Holds binos OK but I would get something better for expensive glass. I'm using Zen Ray ZRS HD 10x42 which only cost $280.

I've got a badlands harness too and love it, but I got one of those army vests from army and outdoors for possum trapping and my God is it handy. Pockets for days, everything fits close to your body and you can quickly and easily grab everything too.
