Some guys at work have them + like them. I was willing to give them a try but lol not in stock for 4.5 fucking months
Nah it's all good - I get a pair free through work so I'm getting La Sportivas for that instead of the Asolos, no biggie
I think the advise that Josh has given is excellent.
I wear Grisports every day, they usually last for 18-24 months; the soles get to the point where they don't offer enough grip for hill work. Every other part of the boot are serviceable and I always pass them on to someone else who uses them in more sedate situations.
I also wear another pair of Grisports hunting and whilst they are very comfortable they don't like the hard knocks of the South Island.
Mates I hunt with really like their Bestards and I really like the look of the new Andrews boots, you'll find them in hunting and fishing.
Fit and comfort would be the most important factor for me, then durability.
Just remember what Josh says... If you hammer the shit out of any pair of boots, no matter how much you paid for them, they won't last forever!
Good info. I purchased a pair of Grisports Aorakis I think they're called after reading here some months back, best boot I've ever used or tried on.
Personally I think I good fit is as important as the structure of the boot.
These have strong support and are mean comfortable.
I hunt Kaingaroa Forest, Urewera and Minginui 90% so the boots biggest problem so far has been blackberry ripping them.
For me these are the best. 2c.
Had the same problem with Asolos, mid sole crumbled to dust on the first trip (and the shop had gone bust, so I couldn't take them back). Never get Asolos again.
OK so I got smiths city to get some Hanwag boots down from the supplier.... Sweet looking boots really nice and a good price too (CRT card) fully resoleable and a nice fit....the sort of boots u could just climb into and walk.....still can't get the gronells outa my mind even though I'd pay a bit more for them..... Anyone had a pair of hanwags?????
Cheers
