Boots without the pu shit

I had a pair of gronels last me 4 years of nearly constant wear including occasional yard work or when gummies were the obvious choice. Then small splits started to appear in the leather and the side of the rand separated. Still hung on for another 2 years as a summer boot, of course they didn't make that model anymore.

These come in a non safety toe version.
Nz made rubber sole screwed and glued to a thick leather footbed. Easily resoled.
No frills basic boots but I’d say they would outlast most.

Compared to a tire for $600 you can get 50000km millage from it, Ive said it before on here guys stay i got couple three years out off those lowas, chrispi or what ever brand but they aren't wearing them every day only in the weekends if you are lucky. If i was wearing my crispi every day hunting or tramping i couldn't see them lasting a year.

I 100% agree there with what you saying bot getting shafted. I have 1 pair off boots & they do every thing from work to hunting & anything in-between so Im happy enough if I get over 12 months but I like to get 18 months & to be fair I don't oil them as often as I should but that a leather issue not a sole issue I also can't stand to wear gumboots so my boots see there fair shear of mud & wet I do have a boot dryer they always go on at night & I think that helps a lot drying all the sweat & dampness out at the end off the day.

These boots have one major problem you get wet feet when you in wet grass & it ant fun having wet feet ever day

Buncha softies...what you really need is a pair, (presuming you still have both legs), of 'Ashley' calf length boots. Or the shorter 'Buller' version.
Wore them for years. Great in mud/snow too, and I don't 'do' ice climbing.
Get them wet when river crossing is no sweat. Empty them out and they dry quickly.
Very quiet when you are pussyfooting around in the scrub. Keep feet nice and dry (unless you are crossing a river).
I put an inner sole I made from rubber carpet underlay in to mine.
Everyone should have a pair.
I introduced a USA shooter to them. He loved them so much he took them back to the US with him.

Bullers are feet wrecking bastards of things. Should be burned along with any remaining Swandris. Wish I had never met them. Them and the later lined Skellerup ones. I wore them for years chasing venison and farming. Sap your feet during the summer. Cold in the winter. No top protection from sheep trampling all over them in the race. Bugger your big toe gear changing bikes, 3 wheelers and then quads with them. Only redeeming feature is that they were light and cheap, and that at the time I never realised how they were buggering my feet.

Thought I was very cool with the holes burnt though them with a hot wire in the instep to let the water out, and the number eight wire hooks instead of laces. One of the lads. But the truth is most of the old cult stuff was bad for you. Tui being an example.

Usually on boots it's referring to the high density foam in the midsole which a lot of manufacturers use polyurethane.

I find the skellerup quatros have just about enough protection for the deer shed, only the nastiest hoof-grinding old hind can make an impression through them.

+safety glasses if running the fallow through the shed.. for such little deer their pointy bits spend a concerning amount of time at eye level, bouncing ninjas that they are.

well I still wear my ashleys hunting more than 50% of the time...and I drink TUI......
