I have a couple of sets, they are great for us folk who haven't got a waist...
My nephew who often walks behind me appreciates it on the uphill sections too :D
.
Yeah - and they're an absolute pain when your woollen ex army pants load up with water and stretch your braces until they're wrinkled along the edges and don't have much stretch left. But with modern pants they're okay - as long as you don't mind the seam crawling up your arse as you're stretching for the next handhold while climbing.
Braces and belt stops all that, but you end up looking a bit indecisive .............
"You're looking indecisive mate."
"F**k off."
Never worn rain pants ............
I have a set but find the back buckle lets go.... great for keeping shorts up in wet weather too so they dont ride on the thighs.... I do have a fat arse but my thunderous thighs bind on pants when belt band is still loose.... it actually gets worse after a few days on the hill..funny as hell trying to buy decent jeans to fit... Im better off with $20 jobs from warehouse and a belt....
When they really crap out two long bungee cords are just the ticket 😁
I've never worn jeans and I've had a couple of pair - just don't like how they feel ............ cold.
I don't quite know what I wear these days, whatever someone gives me (missus usually) - I have little pride.
Bumped into the kids up the road walking their dog the other day ..........
"Are you poor ?"
"What makes you think I'm poor ?"
"The way you dress."
It used to be my f****n car, and now it's the way I dress ........... no winning.
Ive made my own after finding commercial ones usually cant hack the pace .mix and match whatever elastic on hand or what i can recycle!they do the job keepin me strides up an Icouldnt give a airborne fornication what anyone thinks. got a set on me chainsaw chaps and me camo trou ,plus others on me chippies belts!
I know a multi-millionaire who lives in a flash house on Oriental Parade who drives an old Sentra and gets around in paint-splattered jeans and shoes falling apart
Not only does he not give a shit about looking fancy but he also doesn't give a shit what people think
He's a good bloke
Yep, I'm in the 'no waist' group and find braces are great.
Not my best pair, but most often worn are the 'Minions' braces my grandies gave me for my birthday a couple of years ago.
Gotta love those Minion braces!
Second that. After many moons hunched over shearing sheep with a back that hurts like a MF, an old guy talked me into trying braces whilst shearing......life changer for me, never looked back. I think a combination of a little bit of stretch pulling you upright and not having to have a tight belt was the go. Any shearers out there, give it a go.
Belts are good for me usually but not so great when wearing a full pack as they clash with the hipbelt. Us little fellas need belts as often sizing is too big. Warehouse small or Farmers small is like others brands large.
Buy loggers braces from rigging or chainsaw shops. Another great piece of kit are bowyangs. These stop trou pulling on your knees especially when wet. If you make some from cord do not tie them too tight. My wife made me a few pair from inch wide elastic like of top band of jockey grunds.
I bought a pair for my motorbike pants a while ago. One of the best things I've bought since there was only 2 belt loops on the pants on the sides and the belt was always slipping off the back. Now I can walk around without having to keep pulling my pants up.
One of my other best purchases were the tall version boot drier. Putting on warm dry boots in the morning is my idea of heaven :)
