Thread: Bush Coffee Solutions

I have become increasingly snobbish about coffee over the last few years and more rapidly the last few months. I enjoy the process around making good espresso and it’s what I look forward to when I wake up.

It got me thinking - how well can it be done in the bush?
Have seen solutions like the Aeropress. Also have though of hiding a manual espresso machine at my favourite hut, just to really take it to the next level.

What do others on here use? Obviously if you are an instant or sachet coffee kinda person, no judgement, but that’s not what I’m referring to here.
Would be cool to hear from Pro’s like @ilikepie on what they think..

Yep have used the jeds bag too. How good is the aeropress? Does it make espresso or plunger style long black?

Where did you get plunger for ETA from?

I use an Aeropress. small and more or less indestructible. i used to take a hand grinder but its way easier/faster/quieter for those still sleeping to use pre ground. as it uses some pressure you get a cleaner tasting cup and if you are using a single o African then you'll get a bit more of the inherent flavor from the processing method.

I use a 4 cup stove top with pre-ground beans in a ziplock (not ideal but works for a couple of days).
Stash the ground beans in the pot for transit etc.

Stove top takes up minimal space at camp and can get it going quick if you use warm water.
I put it on a knock off jet boil, with stove ring reducer and it works a treat.

Pre-ground filter coffee and one of the stainless steel strainers like this, makes a good strong black coffee and tea, weighs stuff all, or as Nickoli says just go old school and brew a black tea bag.

So you can’t be into hunting and enjoy good coffee.? Right
Last time I checked, hunting is a pastime for most of it, so how we do it is up to us and may involve comforts as you stated. Bet you hunt completely but naked for maximum immersion

I'm no coffee snob but my mate has more of a refined pallet. I'm not sure what it's called but he uses this thing ( attached photo).
