Don't think it really matters, buy from your closest reatailer, we used to sell it at my old employer but there was bugger all margin in it and really not worth it from a retail point of view.

Dont be fooled about the "free topomap lite" its not free it comes on the units regardless but it is worth subscribing to the Birdseye for 12 months.
Download all the areas you hunt, may hunt one day and load them in to you unit then dont renew the subscription.

When buyin think where you can take it back to the easiest, also make sure you keep the receipt safe, we record purchase dates for customers, good deals in the H&f spring catalogue, make sure you get the free protective collar, also get them to do the update on the collar and handset (battery recharge) before you leave the shop.

not hard to update yourself. Just load up Basecamp software and connect your collar or alpha and if an update is available it will update your unit with a few clicks

You need to update the handset as the battery only charges to 85% , something to do with delivery regulations.

Bought mine (2x 430s and 4 t5 collars) at H and F. They were best price at the time.18 months ago.
One collar wouldnt charge and they replaced it ok.
Another failed a week ago ,(Sat reception) Garmin do an out of warranty deal $150 for a new one which is better than the normal $400 odd.
Not complaining as they get a pretty hard life.
