    Cactus Huntaway

    Anyone using on of these?

I have a Milkat & love it, even though it's got a fixed length "harness" it fits me great, is strong & a very well made basic pack ( have had it loaded with meat etc & never have to worry about it coming apart ) but the waist strap cut's into ya a bit and shes a bit small for a night or two away.

The Huntaway seems to have a bit more padding and a better waist belt, thoughts ?
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!

Replaced my Miklat with a Huntaway after much deliberation...

Have to say the Huntaway is far better for my needs. Better harness/waist-belt, floating lid is great and I really like the compression straps and side pockets. Everything you need and no extra faff!

Enough room for a night out without being too big for a day hunting pack. I comfortably fitted overnight bivi gear and 2x boned out reds.

Its my go to pack for most of my hunting, climbing and tramping. Don't think you'll be disappointed with one.

I replaced my Miklat with a Huntaway too, for all the same reasons. Can get enough gear in it for long weekend fly camping (traveling light) and with expandable lid can pack meat in without fuss. gun scabbard is a nice touch to add to it too.

I'm like a walking ad for Catcus sometimes, shorts, t-shirt, pack and cap but NZ made and top quality, I'm happy to push the brand

    That's true Phil

Here it is with all the protein from a Sika hind and 2 yr old in it

Still fitted all my other gear and the top is not even extended for the extra 10 litre capacity

And here it's waiting to carry steak, roasts and stirfry from this spiker

Here it's just waiting patiently for a protein donor to show up

And shedding water like a water shedding thing

I really like it, I'm fond of gear I can't break, some possies are freakin inhospitable enough without a pack letting you down

Following this with interest. Pretty keen on a day bag. Take it you could roll it up into a bigger bag for a few day trips.

My thinking has always been that if you know your pack is a bit noisy in the bush it makes you doubly careful and can work to your advantage. Its size and width that matters too - a big noisy pack is a bugger, but a smaller one not so much. I've always used 30-40 litre canvas Macpac type day packs.

Yes, the top lifts up via compression straps and easily gives you another 10 litres
