    cactus puffer, thoughts?

    Down Jacket

might get one, being waterproof and tough will be a bonus.

    Any other similar jackets available?

Looks a little tougher than most.
Swazi made/makes one out of synthetic down. It too looks good but I doubt it will match the Cactus for durability.

Cactus gear is generally about as tough as it gets.

I always thought down jackets were just for girls but that actually looks useful, especially being waterproof.

The Cactus version will be tough as nails, just like all their other gear.
Also very worth while taking a look at gear from Wear On Earth in Christchurch.
A friend purchased a down jacket from them a couple of months ago and it's one of the best that I've seen at a very reasonable price, they will make them custom to order too...they also do other stuff like sleeping bags.

I bought a wear on earth jacket in 2003. It went to the top of a lot of mountains, round the world, covered in duct tape from rips. I sent it back to Blair at wear on earth in 2013 after 10 years to get a zip repaired. Talked to him about buying a new one with a hood on it. It came back to me, with a new zip, new hood, all re stuffed, all panels resewn. And he charged me nothing.

I can't possibly talk high enough about his customer service or his jackets.

Unfortunately it was stolen last year.

I'll be buying another for sure

I swear by my cactus pants and shorts for work. They're amazingly tough so I'd be confident in any of their gear. If you're in the outdoor professions apply for their "pro buyer" membership. They really sharpen their prices.

Hows the upper thigh, crotch and ballroom? Could you climb scaffholds and do the splits? Thinking about them for work but it would be a shame if they didnt fit right.

Pretty sure one of my workmates has a custom wear on earth down jacket. He got a heavier duty outer fabric, he hasn't managed to rip this one yet, his previous jacket was covered in duct tape.
