    Canam Spec tools

This is why people buy direct from overseas: Canam NZ quoted me $140 for one tool and $785 for the other tool. And would have to order one of them from overseas.

These turned up from overseas in 10 days, total cost $155 including postage. And look identical to the ones Canam showed me photos of...

Yeah, that's a pain in the bum. I've managed to strike that a lot recently, maybe due to me gear still being good at 16 or 18 years old and the dealers now not stocking as much in the way of spare parts and tooling even though the machines themselves are still good as (maybe it's storing them inside and not neglecting them for maintenance...).

One of mine, sintered plain bush, order from overseas and $35 - two weeks delivery and then I have to go back to the outfit and get it. Landed in 10 days at my letter box, $14 including shipping.

Yeah, some businesses charged like crazy.
With that kind of mark up, I wonder how many repeated customer they have.

Same goes with digger part, a lot cheaper if we get them from oversea,
Only if you know what or what you were looking for and don't mind waiting a couple of weeks.

No name Chinese start recoil. NZ $13 +$18 courier.
    Temu $2.78 delivered.
Bought both and they’re indistinguishable from each other.

Yeah will only buy through dealer if I absolutely have to. 4wd actuator on my outlander had given up so thought I’d do the right thing and get a quote from the dealer. Near on $500 opposed to one I got from US for $200 landed here in 2 weeks. Same thing for front drive shaft and couplers. Less than half the price to order from the states and arrived within 2 weeks.

These are all classic examples of charging what the market will stand, not running on a reasonable markup. Kiwis are rorted at every turn.

I needed a chainsaw part and it was a third of the price to import it from the US, even allowing for the high freight.

I think we’re victims of a bygone era of long distributorship agreements and chains. Poor public facing reseller cops the flack and misses the sale when savvy customers buy direct.
The cost of domestic freight and couriers is what’s feels completely out of hand, but probably a fair reflection of their margins.
