Carrying a camera on the ready?

After taking a series of close up pictures of animals on the weekend with my iPhone and getting miserable image quality, I’m looking to incorporate a compact digital zoom into my std hunting kit. However as I’m wearing a daypack on my back and a binoculars harness on the front I’m wondering how to carry it “on the ready”.

How are folks carrying mid size cameras so as to get quick shots when you have all your hunting kit as well?

Clips like tike the peak design look like a good solution, a couple photographer channel tuitions I’ve watched have used them.

I quite often carry my Cannon SX70HS in a pouch with a long strap and carry it diagonally over one shoulder. I also wear a bino harness as well , that might seem a bit cumbersome but actually works well for me . Its quicker than having my camera in my pack and having to fish it out if a photo opportunity presents itself.

your camera will double as your optics so binos become less important....put camera in bino harness and binos in pack perhaps....

A small camera pouch on my pack waist band.

This might work if I move existing pouches about and can find a pouch that covers my camera.

What camera do you use Shearer?

I have a Panasonic TZ80. 30x optical zoom. It is very compact and I don't even know it's there until I need it.

I currently use a SX60 and wear a top that has a kangaroo pocket that my camera fits in and is quick and easy to access under my bino harness.
