A while back before I got a proper lead melter. I used (only once) a small cast iron pan to melt a small amount of lead, two kilos. My question is, have I ruined my pan or can I still cook with it if I give it a clean and re-season? Thanks

I would not use the pan for food again. This is due to the lead having gone into the pores of the cast iron. Potentially, the lead may be able to leach out, particularly with acidic foods.

I would add......It would pay to destroy the pan in case someone ( relatives or kids ) see it when its thrown out and decides to use it..
Thanks everyone. Will be going in the crap metal bin at work. Might use it for target practice first
Yeah, break it before throwing in the bin. Who knows who will ferret through scrap and have themselves a real 'find'
Give it to the mother in-law…

Carve "LEAD" into the handle and mark the thing - probably someone will want it for melting sinkers...
