chaps, does anyone wear chaps rather than pants? any good? bad points?

i usualy hunt with just shorts and gatiers but when the weather changes find myself wanting to be wearing pants, the thought of chaps has just poped into my head, what are the pros and cons? over pants? i usually over heat hence why i dont always wear pants and opt for shorts instead, but it is now winter...

    Y M C A

    Is that helping?

I'd only go for chaps AND trousers for going through prickly stuff.

I wear black long Johns with rugby shorts over top.

Keeps my legs warm and stops most scratches while not limiting my movements and they are quiet.

Kmart sell them for about $10-15 a pair so no worries if you wear them out or rip them.
