AliExpress Naturehike tents are fine. Some recommend a two man as less condensation and more space for not much more weight. Would I take one to the South Island, use in winter or in to alpine terrain? No, but fine for what you ask.

Got a Vaude blade, 1 man tent. These are 2 layer tents so really helps reduce condensation. Hardly used, yours for $200

the warehouse the ware house ,can take it back on Monday...

one person, not terrible weather...yip old school puptent or small dome tent....cheap,weighs not too much and at under a hundy bucks...if get big animal you can stash your tent in under a log to pick up or use on later trip....
once upon a time folks just used a bit of polythene...which got messy if not cleaned up... the siltarp or indeed huntech fly is just the logical progresion from there. I picked up a milserp tarp maybe 10x10" for 5 bucks and as long as can find one tree or use a pole its all I could need for just myself. 2 old alloy poles out of pup tent and its just too simple to use.

+3 on siltarp .................. I got a super light 3x3m tarp that packs small and weighs about a pound, and that's all I use - no huts where I hunt.

    And bugger-all deer ............

3x3 tarp, Siltarp, Hennessey, etc etc, Can go open with airflow or fully watertight using different configurations, Add in a hammock later on and so many options.
Aliexpress Naturehike tents, Intents outdoors, or indeed Kmart/Warehouse if on a real budget.
Black polythene, builders Tyvek, or a warehouse tarp are also cheap options. nature provides the pegs if you have a good knife.

Check out 3F UL Gear, aliexpress. seems pretty decent and popular with Through Hikers etc in the US.

    Plenty of YouTube reviews

Roman..think it is make a 1.1kg single person tent that looks like not a bad way to go,steep triangle tube, sort of a mini pup tent but longer..... H&F had them in catalogues for ages but I just couldnt justify buying one when a simple single skin tarp works and its very rare for me to sleep out n about anyway.

Torpedo7 had one at around $100 recently and so did H&F

I have one here that has never been used but might need to be not too tall....I have had it pitched on my lawn for photos and to see what it is like but never had it out for a night.....possibly let it go for $75......It is the smaller one in the picture. The Blue one. It has the door in the side rather than on the end. The other one is my 2 man which also has not been used but I want to keep that.

I got the smaller one with a set with two day bags, the tent and a couple sleeping bags. I really only wanted the day bags and have used both those so much they have worn out. I did not really want the tent but figured I might use it one day.....

Also looking to move the two envelope style summer weight (light weight) sleeping bags. Also never used.....just in case anyone is keen.
