It's a safe
very good!
Must have a bit of steel etc, 50kg for a 5 gun safe.....
I have a 5 or 6 gun one, similar style, A cat. And it certainly doesn't weigh 50kgs, maybe 10-15 kgs.
It's a bit small
looks like the ones the paint ball shop in Albany has
Is there such a thing as A cat certification?
It doesn't meet the recommended thickness (3mm walls) according to what came with my FAL renewal notice, which is also what the vetter checked for, so he might have said not good enough.
It says compliant under the regulations, but the regulations are not specific so it's pretty much up to the local arms officer to decide. I have heard from a couple I of sources that they are going to standardise/specify storage requirements (and they will be higher than they have accepted in the past).
On a different level, the 1-day website regularly has very similar safes for about that price, and eight gun ones for $249.
paint ball guys like to put their guns in them I guess any one can sell a gun safe if they want
Their freight cost pushes the price up, $98.61 to get one to Nelson
I have a 5 gun version with the digital combination lock on the main door and key for the amo box. It was quite heavy from memory and it does the job fine. Happy with mine, the rifles don't fit that well with scopes on but many safes have that issue. I am going to mod mine to bring forward the barrel rest to give the scopes some space.
Next to useless for me.......
Only holds 5 rifles, I'd damn near need the whole shipment just to hold what I got let alone what I want ;) :)
Cheers
Pete
Its too small.
There is no such thing as "A cat certification"
Other than that it might be fine to put 2 maybe 3 long arms in without scratching them up.
id the container as my gun safe
I see the offer has closed but a quick search revealed another interesting item:

I'm tempted by a revolving one I saw at Rusty Dog. The label says 14 but I'm thinking 10 or 11.
Well, I didn't buy it. One of the issues with my current safe is that my semi-auto shotgun won't fit in it if assembled. Some rough sums suggest I would have the same problem with the Container Door safe because of the stupid ammo box at the top.
Can anyone recommend a 3 - 4 gun safe that actually accommodates 3 - 4 guns including a semi-auto shotgun (length 125cm) and scoped rifles? I don't want to spend any more than I have to on a box.
way too small
I have a buffalo hunter or river something or something or rather that's marketed as an 8 gun safe. Mine looks identical to the one in the ad.
It's not really an 8 gun safe. Unless they're skinny 22's. More like a 5. It would work better if I had more guns in it which is something that I'm working on. As currently the rifles twist about a bit and can sometimes knock the scopes. Which annoys the crap out of me.
Mine cost 300 odd dollars off trade me.
What I think I'll do is some insulation off cuts from work and just double sided tape it to the side walls so that the scopes don't get knocked around and that the gun stay in place.
My safe is 1.5m high and 1.3m space for the guns I think. I can check for sure if yah like.

That's a good point. I'm already struggling to keep the humidity low. I have a rechargeable dehumidifier in there and a big dehumidifier outside but the power bill has shot up so back to lots of oil and small dehumidifier.
Any suggestions on what to use? Cotton wool maybe?
Something that won't make the metal sweat. And get some silica gel packets

A small cabinet heater works well in my safe
I will look into them thanks.
