Ok, so when I first started making knives a hacksaw, file and sandpaper was all I needed, but as I progress I have found I need better equipment, essentially more tools, seems counter productive but as I refine my designs the complexity increases and as such the equipment I need also increases, and right now I need a band saw, not a metal cutting bandsaw, although that would be nice but a simple 9 inch wood bandsaw, purely for cutting wood, g10 and micarta for handles and kydex for sheaths.
As such I am selling off some stock, most of it has been sitting around a while, although one I just finished this morning, I am selling it cheap, way cheaper than would normally do so, but as I say, I need some cash to buy a bandsaw...that means you guys are in for a bargain. And as an extra bonus, if you want, I can etch your initials in the blade if you want, but for this I must receive payment first.
Price will include standard post with a trace any where in New Zealand, if you want courier post then that will be extra.
Knife number one $30:
This little guy is a 4mm thick O1 tool steel knife with a wharncliffe blade and a scandi grind that has been tempered to 59 Rockwell, it was a knife I made when I started to make leather sheaths and needed a knife to cut leather (I have now some proper leather tools), it has a brass corby bolt and a stainless thong tube holding the kwila handles to the full tang with marine epoxy, I have left the heat treat marks on the blade (this will come off with 1200 grit wet and dry sandpaper if you do not like them) but have highly polished the blade, it comes very sharp, the knife has been dropped on its handle in the work shop several times and has developed a crack in the wooden handle, I have stabilised this and smoothed it out. It comes with a simple leather sheath set up for belt carry that could be worn on either the left or the right.
Its a very strong handy little knife, makes a fantastic back up blade or work blade if you want to preserve the blade of your skinning knife.
Knife number two $45:
This is the third knife I made, its 4mm O1 tool steel, tempered to 59 Rockwell, this one is a sheepsfoot blade with a high saber grind that is extremely sharp, its got highly contured rimu handles held on the the full tang blade held on with a brass corby bolt and a brass tong tube with blue liners and marine epoxy, it comes with a polished blade and a simple black leather pouch sheath.
If you watch youtube and look up a kiwi pig hunter and singer Clay Tallstories you will see him using one of these but with a micarta handle, building a little fishing kontiki.
Its a very handy blade and very strong, makes and excellent second blade or even a main blade for shorter trips.
Knife number three $50:
I just finished off this little guy this morning, its got a 3 mm O1 tool steel blade, tempered to Rockwell 59, its got a scandi grind in a wharncliffe shape which I am just putting a final sharpen on the blade with japanese water stones. It comes in a black kydex sheath with eight lashing points so it can be tiled to your gear, or worn as a neck knife, or tied to a belt, left, right, side, scout etc etc carry, the options are limited only by your imagination, and being kydex is immune to salt, petrol, oil, blood, mud or pretty much anything that that you might come into contact with.
The wood handle has been attached to the full tang blade by means of a brass loveless bolt and a brass thong tube, these have red vulcanised liners and marine epoxy holding it all together. Speaking of the handle its rather special, the wood is lignum vitae, the hardest wood in the world, it has a jankta rating of hardness of 4500, the top the scale goes to, its so hard that it gets used to make ball bearing out of and some of Americas nuclear subs use it for propeller props, as its so oily that it is pretty much immune to salt water. It comes from jamaica and is both expensive and very hard to get hold of, it has a very unique smell and feels great in the hands, and will last forever.
Knife number four $65:
This one is a bird and trout style knife but built with 4mm thick O1 tool steel tempered to 59 Rockwell so will handle and animal you care to bag in New Zealand.
It has Ash handles with stainless steel loveless bolts and black vulcanised liners and comes in a forest green leather sheath with a belt loop.
The blade deserves special attention, is has a deep finger choil just before the handle to allow you to slip your finger in to be able to exert extra care when skinning, has jimping at the back to make sure your hand does not slip when bloody, its a trailing point design, great for anus removal, the back of the blade is partially sharpened with a wide bevel to allow for jointing without blunting the front part of the blade with has a steeper angle and comes sharp, it has been used on deer and the shape works well, although I have thinned the handle since use as it felt a little fat in the hands.
This is a great little knife that any hunter should be happy to have at hand.
Note: all of these knives are carbon steel and have wooden handles, for optimum performance they should be regularly oiled, I use olive oil as its food safe.

ps: I also make custom knives if anyone wants something that not listed here.
