About LinkBacksGapped axe is right. either invest in quality and it will last a lifetime, or accept the fact that a $99 knife is cheap, but not the end of the world if misplaced.
I confess I carry a Muela knife for hunting - $150, and my own good knives can stay nice-looking and sharp/useful at home in the kitchen.
