DAYBAG or PIKAU for Bush Hunting

Need a new one , I like a simple bag with not fat padded straps so you can still shoulder your rifle nicely , fabric that’s not to noisy , not into the bladder for water thing either.
Is someone making good basic day bags ?

I’ve looked at a couple at the local H&F and they are full of pockets and zips etc etc .

Ridgeline used to. Do a pikau, you could always do like me and use a car seatbelt and sugar sack with a small pumice piece in the corners.

made my own....think pillow case but twice the size in both directions, wife sowed it for me out of polarfleece...two tennis balls (shhh dont tell my dog) fit in the corners and a hunk of seat belt about 6 foot long does the rest. old school pikau with a new twist.
I can use the seat belt to carry deer the A.Gale method and when pikau all dirty n boody the whole shebang goes in washing machine.
I can fit front half of red boned out in it easy.

I have a Ridgeline pikau. Got it from Craftys Rod and Gun. I use the pikau mostly for pack trips where I want a day bag instead of using main pack. My go to for day bag is Macpac Voyager plenty of room for gear and animals.

@Micky Duck I am thinking of putting some brass eyelets in the top seam and thread another cord in to tie it off. Had a Chamois in mine plus some gear and it was bulging, worried the main tie was going to slip and I would loose my stuff.

We used to use two onions in the corners, much more useful than tennis balls or pumice!

Onions in the corners .....now that is Brilliant @Cigar , mine was a home made canvas one brass eyelids and cord at top and a flap that came over with seatbelts for straps, could wear it under my swanny and slip through the trees nicely .
Will check out the hunters one or Might track down a canvas tent repair guy and see if he can make me one like my old bugger , thanks for all the suggestions fellas

Huntech Meat Bag is worth a look if you want something bigger. It fits on their Pikau straps and is made of canvas.

The huntech 25l is a simple pack if you want an actual pack.

Cant beat a pikau for stowability however. Ive got both a ridgline and a huntech, both work fine, the huntech is beefier though (think its an old nz made one)
