The Tilda (and other brands) precooked rice sachets are pretty good for bulking meals out too. They don't need cooking as such, just a little rehydration and warming. Chucking them in a dehydrated meal bag works.
They all taste completely different after a day on the hill compared to just having one at home.
That chocolate pudding outstanding... I'd happily devour that at home for dessert.
Only issue with Realmeals is price, that new venison meal was $21 on a certain website.
Radix does a 6 box for $53, works out to be $9 ish each. Great value, taste isn't on par with realmeals yet imo.
I had some back and forth with Ryan when he first started moving to meat free. The reason you give here wasn't one he used at the time, however I'm sure it's based on a culmination of things.
The point I tried to make to him is that the super refined, vegetarian meals generally taste like crap and have poor texture. Some people want to enjoy their dehy meals but Ryan obviously thinks this number of people is not worth catering for. It's certainly helped the likes of Real Meals gain market share.....
Had my first Real Meal the other day on the hill.. was pretty good, not to mention biting into actual identifiable meat!
Hotsoup $25.00 in Taihape.
