Thread: Domex Halo stuff sack or compression sack ?

Hey team,
picked up my new Domex Halo XT today and I must say first impressions are fantastic, very compact and indeed very light.
I am curious as to why it comes with a stuff sack instead of a compression type bag with straps ?
Was this to keep weight down or is it something to do with not over compressing the down ?
It seems to me that it could easily be compressed even smaller than it is in it's stuff sack if needed.
Don't get me wrong I am more than happy with it the way it is just curious.

Is it simply a case of you pay extra for the compression sack? There are certainly a few after market compression sacks available

I keep my bag loose in a pillow case when not in use - I’m aware some manufacturers have struggled to communicate to owners not to store a bag in its compressed state hence not putting one with the bag

Yup all over that, hang my full length in the wardrobe, when not in use.
Same with my down jacket, I don't store that compressed either.

Not coming in a stuff sack is pretty common for sleeping bags @dannyb. Pick up one of the sea to summit compression dry sacks. They work mint

mine came with a mesh sack for storage.

The Domex Halo comes with a stuff bag and a large mesh bag. The stuff bag doesn't have compression straps as dannyb mentioned.

Any idea what size sea to summit compression sack for the domex halo ? According to the manufacturer the halo has a packed volume of 6 litres.
So I'm guessing the xs in this link should be about right ?

I have the 10 - 3.3 as I throw my spare socks, thermals and undies in the same sack, but either will work

Edit, also I use a quilt and they pack down tiny so YMMV

What quilt do you use ? I'm looking at one for ultra light summer missions

I've got 2 man. A hammock gear burrow 20 for summer missions and a Jack's r better 10 degree for winter stuff. I like em for all but the coldest stuff.

The hammock gear is 550 grams and I've been good to about - 4 in it. The only thing I don't like about it is the down tends to migrate. Will send it back for some extra stuffing at some point
