    Drink system

Ive been trying to work out a good light day hunt set up. I was thinking of a bumbag for carrying what I need, but it leaves me short for carrying a drink. I could add a water bottle holster, but wonder if that then starts to make it too cumbersome. If I went with a backpack, Id use a bladder, but a small back pack wont cut it for carrying out the meat. What does everyone else use?

Also can you drink the stream water here, or do people use filters or purifier tabs?

    Cheers

    Ben

I use Hydrapak 0.5L "bottles". The are collapsible and fit in pouches. As you drink the water, the bottle shrinks so they get smaller and there is no air in the bottle, so they are silent for stalking. I don't drink enough when hunting. I usually take one or two 500ml bottles and sometimes fill up with stream water. I use Aqua-Tabs.

I just carry one of those flexible bottles with the filter built in. Whenever I cross a stream fill it up and drink it all down. If extra thirsty fill it up again and chuck it down my top.
Alternative would be one of those slim backpacks with a bladder.

Hydrapak all the way. 42mm cap opening, awesome filter, and robust/packable. I use the Hydrapak Flux 1 litre (86g) paired with a Hydrapak filter 41g (lockable lid, robust design, great performance). Use this in the bumbag and when bush hunting on fill as required. Packs down to nothing. If going to the tops with a big pack, might bring either the Hydrapak Seeker 3L (92g) or 4L (102g) reservoirs - which use the same lid. Prefer a range of sizes as means can refill one of the larger bags on each hunt.
