For the little one, Peltor do a kid's specific sizing for earmuffs. One of the best I've tried on my kids, sticking with those for them. Have a pink and a yellow pair although they might do other colours. The girl has pink for some reason haha... The thing with those is the bands and cups are sized to fit the smaller head, one other brand I started with had an adult sized set of cups with a smaller band and it didn't work for my kids head sizes (smaller skulls than some).
For earmuffs for you, I usually use full size Peltor industrial spec electronic muffs - very very good and rated for areas like airport aprons which are some of the noisiest environments with turbine engines and female passengers melting down for not much reason. There are a few brands of slim line earmuffs around, but to be fair I find them a bit budget and prefer the full size as they seem more comfortable over longer periods of time.
